Thank You All!

I’d like to thank everyone who has purchased py of Winter’s Bite, and The Path to Winter’s Bite. Winter’s Bite has crossed the 20 mark and Path is over 10. I’d love to see that higher, and it will over time. If you’d like to do your part in making Winter’s Bite a success, you can still do so here On Amazon for 2.99! And PLEASE leave a review if you read it. But be honest – no smoke, haha!

I’m still in the process of research to see if I want to remain an Independent author or make the long journey to being traditionally published. I promise the decision won’t take too much longer.

In the meantime, what makes a good book for you as a reader? Please leave a comment and let me know. I’ll incorporate new strategies for book 2 in the series.

Winter’s Bite Appreciation

It’s time to let this Ancient Format monster know who is in charge here. A new day, a new set of victories to embrace!

But before I finish that, I’d like to thank the person who bought a copy of Winter’s Bite yesterday. Every download keeps my hopes alive and helps me remember that there are people interested in reading my works. So thank you!

Okay, I’m off to get the novel formatted. What’s the part of your job that you dread the most?

You can purchase Winter’s Bite on Amazon or Smashwords for $2.99

The Path to Winter’s Bite is available on Amazon or Smashwords for $0.99

Winter’s Bite

I’d like to start the day by thanking everyone who has purchased a copy of The Path to Winter’s Bite and/or Winter’s Bite. I’m so excited that I’m in the double digits for sales already, so your support means a lot. Also, if you’ve purchased a copy I’d love if you would give it a review. Even if you just rate it with stars that would help, but thought out reviews will help my book receive more exposure.

I’m still looking for the 3 people who purchased a copy of Winter’s Bite on June 10 (one from Australia) as I need to update your copy since I found a (more than minor) glitch. Please get in touch with me through Facebook, Twitter, email, phone if you have my number, come over to my house if you must. I want to make things right!

Next order of business. I know many of you are holding out for the physical copy of Winter’s Bite. It will be just a little bit longer, as I had some trouble deciding on the specific details, but those specifics have been resolved. Today’s priority is formatting for print (now that I know where I’m going with it) and submitting it for approval.

The physical copies of The Path to Winter’s Bite (the companion book, not the novel) will be on hold for a while. I don’t want to release it in paperback or hardcover until I have an official book cover for it, but that costs money. Not a huge amount, but more than I can afford for now, so it will have to wait.

I also have this unscratchable itch right now to be writing for book 2. It’s actually driving me nuts that I am having to hold off with writing while I finish up the production of Winter’s Bite. If I can get paperback submitted today, and hardcover tomorrow, I should have free range to resume writing!

In closing, if you haven’t purchased a copy of Winter’s Bite (and The Path to Winter’s Bite) yet, I’d totally love your support! Holding out for the print version is cool, so no worries there, but if you use Kindle (or other eReader apps) to read books, you can find links below.

One last option…perhaps you don’t care much for fantasy novels but someone you know loves them. Smashwords has the option to “Give as a Gift”. It has you buy the copy and enter the recipient’s email address and Smashwords sends them the file in an email.

You can purchase copies of my books as follows:

Winter’s Bite on Amazon $2.99

Winter’s Bite on Smashwords $2.99

The Path to Winter’s Bite on Amazon $0.99

The Path to Winter’s Bite on Smashwords $0.99

Thanks a lot everyone!  I’ll try to send out a weekly post on Mondays. Feel free to visit my website ( and sign up for my mail list to keep up to date on my progress, events, extra material only available to mail list subscribers, an upcoming contest, and more!

Winter’s Bite glitch

If you are one of the people who purchased Winter’s Bite on June 10, please contact me at If you have not yet purchased a copy, it will be back online shortly. I’m sorry about the inconvenience.

Lots of news!

Okay, I’ve been busting my butt all day in preparation for releasing Winter’s Bite. As many of you know, I’ve released the 31-chapter companion book, The Path to Winter’s Bite, on Amazon. You can find it here for $0.99: The Path to Winter’s Bite. It takes place before Winter’s Bite and leads up to the novel.

Tonight I released The Path to Winter’s Bite on Smashwords which should provide eBook distribution to Barnes and Noble, Nook, Kobo, Apple’s iBooks, and a variety of other sites.

Early Friday morning, I’ll be releasing Winter’s Bite on Amazon to start, and once it is approved I’ll be releasing it on Smashwords as well. With any luck, it should be available in paperback and hardcover on Saturday 6/11! It depends how long the validation process actually takes.

Once that is done, I’ll be releasing The Path to Winter’s Bite also as paperback and hardcover versions.

The last thing I’d like to mention is that the Child of Lies website is now live and operational! I still have things to add to it, but it has a page to find my books, to subscribe to my email list, and my contact information. Give it a visit and let me know what you think!

Publishing Update!

Today I published The Path to Winter’s Bite on Amazon KDP Select. In order to enroll it in this program, Amazon needs to have exclusive distribution of the digital book so I needed to remove it from my blog. I had hoped to make it a free ebook, but the lowest price I am able to set it for is $0.99. Over the next 90 days there will be 5 days where it will be offered for “free”. After the 90 days are up, I’ll decide whether to continue it on KDP Select (gaining another 5 days of offering it for free) or whether to push it out to Smashwords, where it will have ebook distribution on Barnes and Noble, iTunes, etc. If I go this route I will be able to set the price to free on Smashwords, then “report a lower price” to Amazon to have it show up there as permanently free (or until I change it).
Winter’s Bite is still set for a 6/10 release, and will NOT be on Amazon KDP Select, so it won’t be exclusive to Amazon. I’ve got another day or two to put the final touches on it and get it set up, then I’ll work on formatting for Smashwords, and then formatting for the print version (which I’ll likely do through Createspace for paperback and Lulu for hardcover). Once those are out, I’m taking a break! I’ll promote it, but writing will be on hold for a short while before I return to writing the second book: The Valceine Prophecy!
As for links to the books on Amazon, I’ll post them just as soon as I have them. The Path to Winter’s Bite is “under review” and once it’s approved it will be available and I’ll add the link.
